White escort cards printed in blue ink sat in a bed of fresh wheatgrass. Behind the cards, towering vases topped with pomanders of mums, carnations, and roses were filled with food-colored water.
Guests enjoyed refreshing drinks from a bar that was custom-designed to look like the pub that Homer Simpson frequents. Each drink was served in a custom mug etched with a logo featuring the guest of honor‘s face next to Homer Simpson‘s face.
Even though Tavern on the Green boasts elaborate decor, this party made the venue even more vibrant. Color-blocked tables in green, yellow, and orange sat throughout the atrium space overlooking the gardens. No detail was left untouched, including the colorful chivari chairs, seat cushions, linens, and centerpieces.
Each of the main characters from the comedy made an appearance for this party. Bart‘s little sister, Lisa, stood on a bed of wheatgrass surrounded by fresh orange roses and multicolored gerbera daisies. The laser-cut silhouette of the character even had Lisa‘s signature pearl necklace.
Resident bad boy Bart Simpson made his debut on one of the green tables. He was hiding among an arrangement of pink, red, yellow, and orange gerbera daisies.
For the bar mitzvah luncheon, the meal consisted of classic risotto, herb roasted chicken breast or pan-seared striped bass, and gourmet cake. A personalized menu printed with the same logo found on the mugs leaned against the centerpiece at each table.
Fondant remote controls, frothy mugs, cans of "Duff" root beer, and donuts (all of Homer Simpson‘s favorites) covered each of the tiers. The result: an over-the-top ode to TV‘s funniest cartoon character.
A fondant Homer Simpson hugging his favorite treat -- a donut -- topped a three-tiered cake covered in blue and green fondant. The elaborate display also featured fresh donuts on the table and cans of "Duff" root beer.
