Spencer’s edgy “rock mitzvah” was planned and executed in only three months. Creative Edge Parties made a cake that looked just like a drum, complete with the party’s logo.

Planner Amy Shey Jacobs and Spencer’s mom Margaret designed the rock mitzvah’s logo -- a skull and crossbones, but the crossbones were drumsticks anchored by Spencer’s initials. The logo appeared on everything from the cocktail napkins and the cake to the dance floor.
White, antique couches created an edgy and sophisticated look for the rooftop cocktail hour.
For a personal touch, waitstaff served drinks on black-and-white zebra print metal trays from Spencer’s mom’s line, The MacBeth Collection.
The food at the cocktail hour was all about sophisticated twists on fun foods like lobster macaroni ’n’ cheese.
Spencer’s favorite food is steak frites, so the caterers created a steakhouse station with carved steak, a French fry bar, creamed spinach, slaw, and more.
Because the rock mitzvah was a white party, Amy set up black calla lily centerpieces and black votives on the tables for contrast. She also filled apothecary jars with white and espresso-colored candy for guests to snack on at the party and take home afterward.
Lucite tables with LED technology brought the white party to a whole new level. Via a remote, Amy could change the lighting from white to purple.
Square tables and plates added to the sleek, modern look of the space and contrasted with the up-lit circles on the walls. Amy also slid lucite cubes with LED lighting beneath the tables.
In keeping with the rock-party theme, the entertainment included an airbrush tattoo artist, plasma TVs with Rock Band consoles, and a digital photo booth where guests could have their images placed onto Rolling Stone covers and other rock paraphernalia.
Party guests left with lots of goodies sporting Spencer’s rock logo, including T-shirts.
